Central heating repairs and maintenance in Newcastle

Not every heating problem is a boiler problem. Cold radiators, rooms that never quite warm up, noisy pipework and controls that no longer do what they should are all faults in the wider heating system.

We diagnose and repair central heating systems across Newcastle, and we also look after the routine maintenance that keeps a system working properly year after year.

Central heating faults we repair

  • Radiators that stay cold, or are cold at the top or bottom
  • Uneven heating, with some rooms far warmer than others
  • Faulty or unresponsive room thermostats
  • Programmers, timers and smart controls that will not hold a schedule
  • Failed circulating pumps
  • Seized or leaking radiator, motorised and zone valves
  • Noisy systems, including banging, kettling and gurgling
  • Persistent loss of system pressure
  • Leaks on pipework, radiators and valve connections
  • Radiators that need removing, replacing or relocating

How we diagnose heating faults

We work through the system logically: controls and wiring first, then circulation, then the condition of the water in the system. Flow and return temperatures tell us a great deal about whether the problem is a pump, a valve, air, or sludge restricting circulation.

Once we know the cause, we explain the options — a repair, balancing the system, a power flush, or in some cases replacing a component that is at the end of its life.

Cold radiators and balancing

A radiator that is cold at the top usually has trapped air. Cold at the bottom generally means sludge has settled inside it. If the radiators nearest the boiler are hot while the far ones stay cool, the system likely needs balancing so flow is shared correctly across the property.

Heating controls and thermostats

Modern controls can make a real difference to comfort and running costs, but only if they are wired and configured correctly. We repair and replace thermostats, programmers, cylinder stats, zone valves and radiator valves, and we will show you how to use them properly before we leave.

Boiler and heating maintenance

Preventative maintenance is far cheaper than an emergency call-out in January. Alongside annual boiler servicing, we carry out wider heating system checks: system pressure and expansion vessel condition, pump operation, valve movement, radiator performance, control settings and the condition of the system water.

For most homes an annual visit is enough. Larger systems, older properties and rental portfolios sometimes benefit from a more regular schedule, which we are happy to arrange.

What regular maintenance helps prevent

  • Unexpected breakdowns in the coldest months
  • Sludge build-up that damages pumps and heat exchangers
  • Small leaks developing into major water damage
  • Rooms that gradually become harder to heat
  • Higher running costs from a system working harder than it should

Masoud has just completed a repair and service of my Vaillant Combi boiler. He managed to fit me into his schedule at relatively short notice. He is an impressive technician; anticipating the source of my problem and having the replacement part to solve it. He completed the service of the boiler efficiently leaving my kitchen as clean as when he entered. I can highly recommend him and will definitely give him a call in the future.

Friendly, reliable and reasonably priced for boiler servicing, also very helpful and quick to come out when we had an issue. Was recommended to us by a friend, and would recommend to others.
